Community Education

Wildfire safety starts at the neighborhood level. Ember Protect helps residents understand the Home Ignition Zone - especially the first 0–5 feet around the home - where embers can ignite dry leaves, mulch, wood piles, patio furniture, gutters, and vegetation.

Our goal is to help communities become Firewise USA® recognized by organizing neighbors, completing a community risk assessment, creating an action plan, hosting education events, and tracking wildfire risk-reduction work.

Small steps make a big difference: clear roofs and gutters, remove combustible materials near the home, replace bark mulch with gravel or stone, trim vegetation, remove dead plants, and participate in community cleanup efforts.
