The Story
When the Palisades Fire burned through parts of Los Angeles, it felt personal. Seeing the streets I had once walked through burned to the ground made me realize how real and immediate the threat of wildfire destruction truly is, especially as their total damage continues to grow year after year.
Through educational resources and outreach, I aim to help people understand the practical steps that can reduce wildfire risk, including defensible space creation, vegetation management, and home hardening strategies, as described by FireWise USA and the National Fire Protection Agency.
Currently, I have developed a fully functional commercial-grade prototype for my EmberGuard sensor, and I am actively testing the device. Further, my sensor detects wildfires earlier than traditional observation methods, as many begin as small smoldering events.
By combining wildfire education and active prevention with early detection, I strive to create more resilient landscapes and communities.

Wildfires have become increasingly devastating. My vision is to help our communities understand the concepts behind wildfire ignition and educate them in wildfire safety and prevention. I am also keen on developing low-cost sensors that can transmit information about wildfires in their early phases using IoT technology and an AI interface. I am working to earn FireWise recognition for my community, and I hope to use innovation and awareness to make communities safer and better prepared for wildfires throughout the Sacramento area and beyond. I am currently a student at Granite Bay High School and hope to spread my mission to all vulnerable communities.
